Carolyn Zepf Discusses Back pain “Where Did It Come From”!?!

Back pain is no new affliction to the human race.  Back pain can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and even further back to cave men.  In today’s society of long days of sitting, inactivity and fast food restaurants back pain has quickly become the number one most common complaint in our society today.

There are definite similarities between why we experience pain in our backs today as well in past history. Curtain things that would have caused back pain more commonly in times of the past would have been such things as; birth defects from deformed bones due to malnutrition, sickness or trauma.   Also afflictions such as tuberculosis of the spine, rickets and leprosy. At the time people did not have cures or medication for treatment, unfortunately it would have caused the person with any of these diseases to suffer without relief and to have a shortened life span.

Also in past human history our predecessor as a society had more physical demands placed upon them for there survival. The amount of physical strength and athleticism it took to stay alive was of the utmost importance.  Even though our predecessor would have been in better peak muscular strength and flexibility they would have still experience and suffered from aches and pains that we experience in our present today.  Disc pathologies, muscle strains, compressed nerve roots, ligament sprains, arthritis and narrowing of the openings in the bone of the vertebra that the spinal core and nerve root pass.

Unfortunately through in past centuries if you had back pain you would have had to live with that pain, causing decreased quality of life and even a shorter than average life expectancy because you had to fight to survive. Today we can seek out professional help to find a solution to our pain with great success rates and relief.

Carolyn Zepf Discusses What is Back Pain?

What is back pain?

Great question!  Most people have experienced an episode of back pain or will at one point in time in their life.  So what is back pain?

There are many things that can cause us to experience pain in the back area.  Your pain can be due to a disc irritation or protrusion, an entrapped or impinged nerve, misalignments in the spine and pelvis can cause the back area to become painful, muscle imbalances and soft tissue irritation can cause back pain.  Pressure or injury to ligaments, tendons and facets joints can cause back pain.

Ultimate Sports Therapy understands that a lot of people have questions in regards to experiencing or having friends or family go through back pain.   As a clinic we wish to educate and help people understand where their pain is coming from and how they can help themselves over come back pain.  Ultimate Sports Therapy will be doing a series of back pain related articles and videos on the history of back pain, the causes of back pain,  interviewing other professionals in the medical and rehab field on their knowledge and experience on back pain, as well as we will discuss ways to overcome and remain back pain free.

End of The CABALA Juice Fast Video

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Sorry to say this but I ended my Juice fast last night. I had to give in because I was running on no energy trying to work a full time job, work with clients and have meetings.

by about 2pm yesterday my blood sugar was low and I decided I need to eat some food. After I ate I felt better but it was a hard decision.

Also I knew it was going to be hard working full time and doing the fast. Next time I am going to completely disconnect for 30 days, walk a lot more and stay away from work. I will actually go away for 30 days next time.

The CABALA Juice Fast Day 14 Video

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Today I had a great opportunity to talk to Rund who is a friend of mine and a client of Ultimate Sports Therapy.  Rund has done fasts through out the year. One that is coming up is Ramadan, which is a 30 day fast that they can’t eat after sunrise and not before sunset. After they can eat but through out those times they are not allowed to eat and/or drink.

The purpose for the fast from my understanding is for cleansing and purification. This is just one of numerous fasts that our out there depending on your spiritual, religious or personal beliefs.

It is good to see why people fast and how they learned about fasting, wast it past down from their parents heritage or was it a religious belief past down.

It was great opportunity for me to be able to sit down with Rund because she has a lot of personal experience with fasting. As well very knowledgeable when it comes to fasting for her religion.

The CABALA Juice Fast Day 12 and 13 Video

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Today is day 13 of the Cabala Juice fast, I’m really feeling tired due to the fast. The challenge is that I’m working with clients and doing a lot of work which is physically and mentally challenging.  This does take a lot of energy but I figure it’s all worth it because I’ll be completely cleansed when I’ve finished the fast.

I did however injure my right shoulder over doing it. I was working with a client and didn’t warm up properly. I was showing them how to do a soccer thrown in.

Also today I have been having cramping and bloating which is normal through the process. I have to make sure I drink lots of water today to help flush what is trying to get out.  This is the process of elimination and detoxing of all the waste that is in my system.

Good Morning Everyone,

Sorry everyone I didn’t have time to do a video for yesterday journal. I’m doing day 10 and 11 today. As well because it is the summer I’m finding it hard to find people to interview about Juice Fasting.  I didn’t plan this journal out and I’m just going on the fly which makes it more fun for me. I like to have fun with my work.

Since I wasn’t able to find anyone to interview I am going to discuss the benefits of Juice Fasting on the digestion and elimination system.

When you look at our consumption of food you can see how much heavy dense food we consume. Majority of us including me, never give the system a break. We eat maybe 3 to 5 meals a day and are on the go 8 to 12 hours minimum per day. How do you think that would affect our digestion system? What about our elimination system?  You guessed it both systems would get backed up and eve slow right down. That is why we have so many constipation medication at the local drug store. Peoples are always on the go eating poor quality food and then wondering why they can’t go to the bathroom.

Juice Fasting helps give the body a break, plus if you think of your digestion and elimination system like tubes. The nutrients in the juice helps grab all the toxic waste and pull it out of your system. This will help with digestion because now your body will be able to absorb a lot more nutrients because there is less waste for it to go through. This will also decrease your need to intake lots of food because you will have more energy of less. Plus your body will be able to efficiently remove the wasted from your body.

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I have the great opportunity to speak to Daniel Thiessen Owner of Radix Performance radixperformance.com  Daniel is a elite trainer who works with people to help them achieve their fitness goals.

Daniel is a Strength Coach expert who has not tried a Juice Fast personally himself. He does have extensive knowledge of nutrition and exercise prescription. As well his clients have done Juice Fasts like the Master cleanse fast.

We discuss the possibility of Daniel trying a fast for himself but he is unsure about not eating food for 39 days 🙂 Just like David yesterday it is hard to really transition to a full fast. Daniel is willing to try a 7 day fast which would be a great start and I highly recommend you do a few mini fasts before you go into a long one. Just to see how you feel through the process and what challenges might come up.

I would like to Thank Daniel Thiessen for taking the time to meet with me and for sure we are going to go out to eat after I finish the 39days 🙂
